Maria Antoniadou is a Cypriot visual artist who operates along the photographic medium, textuality and moving image. Her work adheres to both explicit and allusive nexuses of time, identity and memory, emphasising their proximity with loss, death and precariousness. From instances attaining to the relation of the conscious and the unconscious, temporality and memory, spatial emplacement and identity, social and personal decay. Her gaze attempts to submerge in the outside and render the inside pregnable both through assemblages of representations in archival material and her own personal depictions.
Maria attended the Birmingham City University, and received a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication with a specialisation in Photography and Moving Image.
